SEITZ the Day November 8

November 4th, 2011

The headline of today’s blog is a call to action.  On Tuesday, November 8th, let’s Seize the…no, make that SEITZ the DAY.  When you cast your vote I ask you to remember my key points of emphasis:

Jobs

We must grow our economy by helping to sustain existing employers and creating diverse partnerships with industries we currently do not have now.  This is accomplished by removing government obstacles to commerce and creating incentives for commerce to take place.

Youth & Families

We must involve the next generation of citizens in our community NOW.  Engaging emerging leaders through initiatives like Jasper’s HomeTown Competitiveness effort provide groundfloor opportunities for youth and families to “try on” new roles which will ultimately shape our community.  I am proud to have been part of the original pursuit of the HTC program for Jasper. I can’t wait to see what we will achieve!

Unclaimed Potential

I firmly grasp the importance of Jasper’s traditions, yet I’m not bound by blindness to our challenges.  This is a time of transition in our city and it’s essential we elect a person who accepts the premise that as good as we are, we’re not yet great.  We must tell our story and sell our city.  We can no longer be complacent.  We must compete – and we will!

Graciousness

Finally, I ask you to remember the positive approach the Seitz for Mayor campaign has taken every step of the way.  My grandfather told me it’s hard to take the high road when others try to bring you down, yet he said the reason we should travel it is because the view is magnificent.

We have walked, talked, listened, learned and – most importantly – had fun through this incredible journey.  Countless volunteers have performed countless tasks with little regard for the time invested.  We will be forever grateful for those who displayed signs, those who went door-to-door with us, those who came to our neighborhood gatherings and all of you who have shared your support, both publicly and in private.  Regardless of the outcome on Tuesday, we’ll hold our heads high and sleep well.

If you aspire to a better community…if you believe Jasper’s best days are still ahead, then vote for me on Tuesday, November 8th.  Thank you.

Blessings,

Terry
