Jasper: One of America’s Best Communities

I’ve always admired Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari, not only for their unique approach to business and their impact on our area, but how they love to compete. They understand building new projects upon their existing strengths keeps guests returning year after year.  Good is never good enough.

I view the City of Jasper the same way. We have a tremendous, even enviable, set of assets. We are a county seat and a regional leader in employment, healthcare and education. We make a good first impression and back that up by being a safe community.

With all of these wonderful things, we only need to look around us to realize now is not the time to take what we have for granted.  Research shows that young people today will choose where to live – based on what lifestyle a community provides – before they accept a job. Therefore, Jasper must strive for continuous improvement.

That’s why we entered the America’s Best Communities contest sponsored by Frontier Communications. We want to get better. We want to see how we stack up with other cities our size. We want to be competitive.

We’re very happy ABC Team Jasper has been named a quarter finalist and earned $50,000. I see this as only the beginning!

Be sure to vote for me in the Republican Primary on Tuesday, May 5. We can’t afford to take anything for granted…not as a city and not as a candidate.
