These Are a Few of My Favorite (Mayor) Things

Tonight as I attended the Jasper High School Academic Awards Banquet I saw dozens of students thank Positive Influencers in their lives. As always, it was quite an experience and reaffirms my faith that Jasper’s best days are still ahead. Congratulations to Maureen Braun who has honored as a Jasper High School Positive Success and to Clara Fromme, retired JHS teacher, on earning the Distinguished Educator Award. Thanks again to SERVUS! for supporting the evening.
As Deena and I listened to the evening unfold I couldn’t help but think how enjoyable it is to do what I do. To help explain, here are a few of my favorite mayor things:
- Chamber ribbon-cuttings
- Taking children through City Hall
- Riding with Santa in a Fire Truck at Christmas (and turning on the siren!)
- Being Jasper’s ambassador
- Attending school functions
- Honoring city employees for long-time employment
- Seeing people walk, run and bike ride all across Jasper
- Watching the Central Green fountain at night and the City Mill wheel turn during the day
- Our annual 1,000 tree giveaway and blessing of a heritage tree
- Camp4Kids and CampCare
As Mayor of Jasper I get to live what other mayors only dream about!
